Mahmoud SeyediPh.D. Candidate
Mahmoud specializes in digitalizing the Spark-Assisted Chomical Engraving (SACE) process to steer it towards intelligent manufacturing. With a background in mechanical engineering, he compensates for SACE machine uncertainties using data-driven and emerging techniques to enhance efficiency. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he gained three years of practical experience in the HVAC industry, with a focus on Pharmaceutical Cleanrooms. While his passion once lay in mountain climbing, he now finds himself navigating Ontario's trails, where the modest slopes bring him the same joy.

Zahraa BassayouniMASc. GraduateZahraa earned her bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Rafik Hariri University in Lebanon before joining PMLab to pursue her Master's degree. At PMLab, she played a pivotal role in the development of the Spark-Assisted Chemical Engraving (SACE) setup, contributing to its integration of SACE controllers, creation of control scripts for machining routines, and design of crucial mechanical components. Leveraging her expertise in mechatronics, Zahraa incorporated optical sensors and force sensors into SACE, using them to predict the surface textures of machined features through machine-learning algorithms. Her work resulted in multiple publications.
